Felt vinyl is more porous compared to regular vinyl, so it sticks to the subfloor better and moves around less. The felt on the backing is made from fibres that don't tear as easily as other types of vinyl when cut. It means that felt-backed vinyl is more dimensionally stable and withstands cuts and tears better than other types of vinyl. It also means that felt-backed vinyl can last a lot longer.
